- Screen telephone calls if possible with an answering machine or a special ring pattern. Do not answer or speak with anyone that your do not know. Only answer and speak with people that you know, and are allowed to speak with.
- Never give your address to anyone over the telephone, even if they say that they know your name or know your parents.
- Never play with matches, lighters, or other household items that are not specifically allowed.
- Know how to call the police and fire departments in the case of an emergency. Know how to call a parent, friend, or neighbor if you need help. Call the police or fire department first for any type of emergency.
- How to use the home security system, and arm the system while at home alone.
